The summers get hot on the Gulf Coast. Unless you are at the beach, the best time to be outside is the coolest part of the day - when the sun begins to set. It was our favorite time of the day, and we try to take advantage of it often. However, it was also the mosquitoes favorite time of day. As the sun began its descent toward the horizon, the mosquitoes began their ascent up from the grass. It didn’t take long for us to run back inside.

We tried all the traditional options. We hated the smell of bug spray, and it left a filmy residue on our skin. Plus, the mosquitoes would still hover around us looking for any part of the body we failed to cover with the spray. Citronelle candles didn’t work, and we were concerned about spraying anti-mosquito chemicals in the backyard where our kids play. It felt like a battle we couldn’t win.
